David spent seven years working at Ford's truck plant here in Louisville. Katie was teaching school and working her way through an MBA program. Then Covid hit, and like a lot of people, we stopped and looked at where our money was going. We were paying over $300 a month just in lawn care for our house and a vacant lot we owned. David looked up mower payments. They were about $100 a month. So he bought one.
A couple of neighbors asked him to cut their grass. Katie started promoting the business on Thumbtack and Facebook. In less than four months, we had over 30 yards, all while both of us were still working full time. We kept going until David could leave the plant and go all-in. The following spring, we added landscaping. When we started thinking about what to do in the winter, David figured Christmas lights were worth a shot. He took a few classes, watched a lot of YouTube, and went for it. He's been known as "Santa Claus" in the neighborhood ever since.
We built this business because life gets busy and money is tight. We get it. That's literally how we started. Our job is to take one thing off your plate and do it right.
